No one on the crawl had ever been there before, and from across the street it looked more like a restaurant than the craftbeer Mecca it is. Luckily one of our more ambitious participants (thanks, Ken!) insisted, “Well, its got ‘bar’ in the name….”
In the ten years since that first encounter barVolo’s importance in the Ontario craft beer movement has grown exponentially.
The bar has become a hub for all thinks beer. They’ve built an import agency to bring in beer from small breweries that consumers previously couldn’t get in Ontario. They created the wildly successful Cask Days real ale beer festival which has grown from a one night event on their patio to a three day festival that takes over the Evergreen Brick Works. And they’ve opened their own nano brewery to brew their own experimental batches of craft beer.
BarVolo is a always a highlight of the crawl. We hope to see you there:
